Letter to Congress - Residence-Based Taxation for Americans Living and Working Abroad
ABCK–AmCham Kuwait has formally called on the U.S. Congress to advance residence-based taxation for Americans living and working overseas.
Our advocacy highlights the impact of the current citizenship-based taxation system not only on individual Americans abroad, but also on U.S. commercial competitiveness, international workforce mobility, and the ability of American companies to deploy experienced U.S. professionals in overseas markets such as Kuwait.
The Chamber is calling for congressional action, including engagement by the Senate Committee on Finance and the House Committee on Ways and Means, to support a fair and practical residence-based taxation framework for qualifying Americans abroad.
This initiative forms part of AmCham Kuwait’s broader advocacy efforts to identify policy issues affecting our members and the U.S.–Kuwait commercial relationship, develop clear private-sector positions, and bring those priorities directly to the relevant decision-makers.
